Financial Aid for Cancer Patients
The Inner Wheel Club of Colombo Central provides financial aid to outdoor patients registered with the Cancer Society each year.
District project on Childhood cancer
A joint project coordinated by the Inner Wheel Club of Colombo Central , Inner Wheel Club of Colombo Mid Town, and Inner Wheel Club of Maharagama, was held to commemorate the International Children’s Day. A convicted prisoner’s child is sponsored annually with finance towards her education.
Sponsored a medical student
Sponsored a medical student for the third year with a monthly allowance for accommodation and other expenses.
Annual contribution to the Cancer Society
An annual contribution is made to the Cancer Society towards the outdoor patients who seek assistance.
District project on Women Empowerment
Twenty abused school going girls were identified from the Ratmalana Divisional Secretariat area and they were given DSI vouchers to purchase school shoes, a parcel containing stationary and a box of food items. Donation of a laptop
Donated a laptop and a mobile phone to a deserving student who is selected to study electronics & computer science at the Kelaniya campus.
Centenary project
To commemorate the Centenary Year the Inner Wheel club of Colombo Central distributed 100 lunch packets along with a bottle of water & dessert to low income families identified by the Gramasevaka of the area.
Joint tree planting project
Participated in the tree planting project done jointly by the Inner Wheel District 322 and Inner Wheel Clubs of the Philippines, Inc. A lemon tree was planted.
Cash donation
Sponsored a single parent’s child towards her studies, a cash donation was handed over to the girl at the Y.M.B.A. Maharagama
