The Centenary project – Inner Wheel District 322

The Centenary project for the club Emergency Obstetrics and Newborn Care, a two day workshop was conducted at the Family Health Clinic in Colombo on January 16th and 17th. The interesting, hands-on programme was spearheaded by Prof. Hemantha Senanayake. This workshop will greatly benefit the doctors and midwives who attended the sessions covering different areas of obstetrics, prenatal care and newborn car

Donation of an oxygen concentrator

Donated an Oxygen Concentrator machine to the Shantha Sevena hospice in Maharagama which is a hospice for the care of terminally ill cancer patients .

Observing World Environment Day

Marked #worldenvironmentday2024🌱💚🌍 at the Pahala Mattala primary school in Lunugumvehera, where the children participated in an art competition to mark 🌎 world environment day on June 5th. The children were educated on an earlier date on the effects of climate change and its effects on the environment and asked to capture their lesson’s on paper.

A poster was designed and shared on social media to observe Children’s Day.

Donation of menstrual underwear

Championing for Period Poverty for Girls with #globalhand Australia at Sri Lankadara Child Development Center, Colombo. Donated menstrual underwear from Australia to the girls, and also toiletries and food items.

Sponsoring sewing tools

Presented the 12 sponsored students of the 8 weeks’ sewing programme course with a pack of required sewing tools.

Empowering Women through Sewing Programmes

The Inner Wheel Club of Colombo empower women through sewing programmes. A kurtha-making course was started for a batch of students. These additional sewing skills will help the women from less privileged backgrounds to earn money from home, thereby contributing to the family income.
