Marked International Inner Wheel Day by gifting new and nearly new clothes, materials, curtains, shoes, accessories and sewing and knitting materials to a Girl’s Home near Kandy. A cash donation was also provided for underwear for the girls and 5 kilos of rice were given for their use.

IIW Centennial Limb
A new Endowment Fund was set up during the visit of IIW President Trish Douglas to provide for a limb annually on 10th January to celebrate the establishment of International Inner Wheel. The first limb was gifted to a 16 year old school girl.
Donation to 611 school children
Joined with the “Sleeping Children Around the World” Association of Canada and the Rotary Club of Kelaniya to give 611 school children from 11 schools in the Hunasgiriya area bedding, as well as school shoes and socks, school bags and books. Biscuits and milk for all 611 children and snacks for helpers were also provided.
School supplies for pupils at the YWCA, Kandy
Gifted school stationary and other supplies to 25 pupils attending the YWCA’s English language classes.
District Project – Childhood Cancer
The Inner Wheel Clubs of Kandy, Kandy Metropolitan, Katugastota and Matale launched their District Project on Childhood Cancer by meeting with a little boy with leukemia and his mother and giving her the first month’s funds for his treatment. An additional cash donation is also donated to the family each month for other expenses.
