International Women’s Day 2024 was celebrated by creating a 4th Endowment Fund at the Centre for Handicapped. The interest generated by the Endowment will be used to gift an artificial limb to a woman or a girl on the 8th of March every year from now on. This year’s limb was given to the young mother of two daughters who has been receiving artificial limbs periodically since she was in kindergarten.

Donation to 611 school children
Joined with the “Sleeping Children Around the World” Association of Canada and the Rotary Club of Kelaniya to give 611 school children from 11 schools in the Hunasgiriya area bedding, as well as school shoes and socks, school bags and books. Biscuits and milk for all 611 children and snacks for helpers were also provided.
Contribution towards the Christmas Party for Students at the Special Needs School
The Inner Wheel Club of Kandy contributed towards the Christmas Party for the students at a special needs school. The students were provided a fun time during Christmas season.The students sang and played games with the help of the teachers at the school.
Ongoing project of donation of milk powder
Monthly donations of 3 kilos of milk powder for the children of a pre-school in Kandy, ongoing since 2019.

Celebrating the International Day of the Girl Child
Marking the International Day of the Girl Child an artificial limb is donated annually to a girl through the Center for Handicapped. The recipient of the limb this year was nine-year-old Dimalshi, who was born with a congenital deformity and who needs her artificial limb replaced each year as she outgrows the previous one.
